Update - August 2025
The draft Plan was submitted to the Dog and Cat Management Board for consideration. The Board subsequently approved the draft Plan without any amendments.
The approved draft Plan was presented to Council on 19 August 2025 for adoption, signalling the completion of the review.

Update - July 2025
From 28 May 2025 and 27 June 2025 Council had invited the community and stakeholders to comment on the draft Plan.
With 331 views and 242 downloads of the draft Plan from the Your Say page, seventeen (17) submissions were received at the conclusion of the engagement period. A copy of the Submission Summary Report is available in the Document Library.
The feedback and proposed amendments to the draft Plan was presented to Council on 15 July 2025, with the draft Plan being adopted to submit to the Dog and Cat Management Board for consideration.
The draft Plan has now been sent to the Dog and Cat Management Board and is awaiting a response.
Dog and Cat Management Plan
Mid Murray Council is inviting feedback from the community on the draft Dog and Cat Management Plan 2025-2030.
Council has reviewed and updated its Plan for the management of dogs and cats over the next five years, fulfilling Council’s obligations under Section 26A of the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995.
The Plan provides the framework for Council’s priorities and services delivered to the community.
The public is welcome to view the draft Plan from Wednesday 28 May 2025 at Council Offices during normal office hours or the link located under Document Library.
Written submissions are invited on the draft Plan and will be received by the Chief Executive Officer, Mid Murray Council, PO Box 28, Mannum SA 5238, or email postbox@mid-murray.sa.gov.au; or via feedback form until 5pm Friday 27 June 2025.
