Draft DAIP
Mid Murray Council has released its Draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026 - 2030 (DAIP), required under the Disability Inclusion Act 2018, and is seeking community feedback.
The Draft DAIP is informed by what our community has told us through the first phase of engagement, run in late 2025.
The actions outlined in the draft DAIP set out how Mid Murray Council aims to provide equity of access and inclusion to the services, facilities, functions and information provided by our Council.
The Council’s DAIP is developed in alignment with the Five Domains set out in the State Disability Inclusion Plan of:
- Inclusive environments and communities;
- Education and employment;
- Personal and community support;
- Health and wellbeing; and
- Safety, rights and justice.
The draft DAIP focusses on those areas Council is responsible for, seeking to embed disability access and inclusion considerations in a sustainable manner into council’s core responsibilities, providing a solid foundation upon which Council can further build in future DAIPs.
Actions outlined in the DAIP form an ambitious strategic framework for council to work towards. However, without significant additional external resourcing, completing all actions within the 4 year timeframe will be difficult.
While Council will endeavour to progress all actions in the DAIP, the ability to advance each action will ultimately depend on the availability of funding. Feedback on the draft DAIP will help identify priority areas and, where necessary, guide Council in seeking external funding to support implementation.
All actions in the DAIP are aligned to the local government mandatory measures set out by the Department of Human Services in the State Disability Inclusion Plan 2025 - 2029.
Mid Murray Council are grateful for our community members who have contributed to the development of the Draft DAIP so far, especially those with lived experience of disability, their family and carers.
If you wish to have ongoing involvement in supporting the implementation of the DAIP as opportunities arise, please make sure you express your interest when you fill in the below survey on the Draft DAIP.
