The Walker Flat – Nildottie – Purnong planning area consists of the following housing areas.

Nildottie and Purnong are picturesque riverside settlements along the River Murray.

Nildottie, perched above sweeping lagoons and backwaters, is surrounded by vineyards and is home to the majestic Big Bend cliffs and the Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park, a significant Aboriginal cultural site. Purnong, a small settlement 150 km from Adelaide, features the narrowest ferry crossing on the Murray and is known for its onion farming, with produce exported globally. Each of these towns offers a charming and scenic stopover along the river.

Greenways Landing is a secluded shack settlement tucked between Mannum and Walker Flat, prized for its quiet, natural setting and tranquil atmosphere. With only a small number of shacks, Greenways has retained a close-knit, low-impact character that appeals to both shack owners and visitors. Greenways Landing is supported by several amenities, including a campground, boat ramp, and newly constructed public facilities connected to a community wastewater system.

Walker Flat is another renowned and well-established shack settlement, known for its stunning ochre-coloured cliffs a favourite among photographers and is a popular stop for houseboats. Attractions like Lake Bywater and the Aruma ski resort provide riverside accommodation and recreational opportunities.

In total, fifteen shack settlement areas are located within the planning area, each contributing to the unique riverside character and lifestyle along this stretch of the Murray.
